2010 Street Glide Exhaust Upgrade Question

I am looking for some advice. I have purchased a 2010 Street Glide with the new 2 into 1 stock exhaust system. I have installed the Harley Race Tuner, Stage 1 air intake and have tried 2 different slip on mufflers. The first was a Screamin Eagle, which is now sitting in storage with 150 miles on it and ready for a new owner and the second is a Thunderheader Slipon Muffler. I actual really like the low rumble tone of the Thunderheader and the performance on the 2010 with the race tuner and air intake upgrade is very good. I have two problems; I still think my Harley sounds like a honda at idle and low throttle speeds and the right side runs screamin hot. The stock head pipes do still have the catelytic converter still in place. I have talked to many people and keep getting different opinions on what I should do, but I don't want to spend $1000 and then just be so so happy with it the results. I want a strong Harley rumble, with a good lower end tone like the Thunderheader gives, still have the same or better performance and help reduce the amount of heat on the right side. Any ideas???

I am contemplating the same upgrades to my '10 SG. What seems to be the main issue with the Screamin Eagle Slip-on?

I love the sound and performance of the S.E. slip-on (nightstick) on my 10 FLHX. Putting on the open end cap available at the dealer makes all the difference in sound quality and performance.

To get rid of the "honda" sound you are going to need to change the cams as well as the exhaust and tune up. A good set of SE 255 cams (or what ever aftermarket option you may prefer here), 2-1 head pipe with the cat removed (Ful-Sac modded stocker or D&D Fatcat) and a dyno tune will improve the performance, the sound, and lower the heat on the right side.

My 2010 Street Glide dyno numbers stock were 68 hp and 84 torque, after the 103 build with the SE 255 and D&D plus the items in the sig line delivers 92 hp and 106 tq (it has in the low 90's for tq at 2200 rpm).

I started out with the Nightstick slip-on and the sound was better but it took a new exhaust to make it sound a lot better. Since I liked the Nightstick sound I went with the Supertrapp 2-1 Supermeg.
Cheapest way to get the sound you want is to listen to some bikes and once you hear it, see what they are running and do the same. Otherwise lots of $$ for trial and error.

Motor build seems to play a big part in the sound but that is usually secondary to the HP and TQ numbers folks are going after.

All that said, my bike sound is a 7 out of 10 IMO. Like you said, $1000+ for so-so results but good enough for now. Nightstick only was a 5. Stock is 2. It is so subjective, probably sounds better on a drive-by but I don't get to hear it that way too often.

Good luck on your quest.

Switched out my head pipes to V&H with widoe slip ons, best sound I have heard. That should do it for you , unfortunately it cost some bucks. Sell the other stuff and get rid of the stock setup.

If you like the 2-1 and like your Thunderheader just change out the stock headpipe that has the cat to either a fuelmoto 2-1 headpipe or another companys cat-less 2-1 headpipe.
