2010 Road Glide handle bar wobble?

This is a very interesting thread. I've had my '09 Roadglide for about 14 months now. I have never rode before then. I am not sure if wobbling is happening to me, but I know that at 70mph and above, the bike doesn't feel comfortable to me at all. Now I am not sure if it is my lack of riding experience, the fact that I run with a chopped windshield and the wind just beats the hell out of me, or if I am experiencing something with the bike like this thread states. I've always heard and read that RGs are great on the interstate, and I'd do more riding like that but just doesn't feel as good to me. I appreciate all of you guys on here with feedback on threads like this, it really helps us newbies!

WOW, I must have gotten a good one, my 2010 runs straight down the road without hands on bars...I can sit there and ride for a long time...a little seat movement and she goes where I want.
Guys with wobble should have the dealer check the " Fall Away" that's the bars moving left to right while lifted...also wheel bearings, pinch bolts on trees, and tires....just have them re torque everything on the front end...

Mine too. Took it in three weeks ago and had it adjusted under warranty and it's smooth now. Mine felt more like the front end was flexing out from the steering head.

George-
In pretty much every post regarding this issue, it occurred at or about 40mph. I'd suggest that if you put the cruise on at 40, and carefully take your hands off the bars for a sec, you can evaluate whether you have this "steering neck bearing issue"...If it wobbles, bring it in and have the techs refer to the service bulletin regarding this issue...If not, then I'd say it probably has more to do with the uneasy feeling you get from 1) being a fairly new rider going 70, and 2) getting the shit beat out of you by the wind...You may want to consider changing out the stock shield (hardly a shield at all!) for something like a KlockWerks, Windvest, or Cee Bailey shield...Just a thought! Cheers!

Funny that i noticed this Sunday thought i was seeing things. At right around 40 i took my hands off the bars and thought i was seeing things, there was a small pulsating in the bars. i have never felt this and it can't be felt in my arms or hands. Doe's not seem to show up at any other speed. My steering head seems fine if not on the tight side and the wheel bearings seem tight. I would suspect that many of these postings are for different problems causing the wobble and the steering head could be tightened enough to mask a small out of balance issue. The wobble is most likely something out of balance like the shit cast rims that they put 7 small square stickon weights on both sides of mine. A brake rotor you would probably feel when braking. On a somewhat smooth road if everything is trued and balanced in your front end i doubt very much you would get a wobble out of a steering head that is on the loose side. It is something out of balance to start this wobble in the fist place. It says in the service manual that if the wheel requires more than 28grams of weight to balance, to deflate and reposition the tire on the rim. I am willing to bet that they never spend time to do this. I can't read what weight the little squares are on my rim but there is a row of seven on each side and as soon as i bought the bike i saw these and said to myself that this has to be a piece of shit rim and forgot all about it until yesterday.

Huh...Never thought about the tire balance issue, though my problem did disappear after they dealer readjusted my steering neck bearings per the newest service bulletin...I don't remember seeing that many weights on my rim, though I will go take a look...

I have the new manual and see the new swing you posted in there. My bike seems to be on the tight side of the min. one max. two swings but i have not taken the clutch cable off the bars or undone the wire harness like the manual says. I cannot feel a thing through the bars but can see the shake at a little over 40 but under 50. it's so slight but not right something is out of balance. The cast rims are machined real shitty i can tell by all the weights on mine and spinning it with the bike off the ground i can see the runout. Service manual says max .090 runout on the rim and tire and i am a little nervous to put a dial indicator on mine. Just like their crankshaft runout the new mags are worse. I'm not saying that the steering head is'nt an issue but i think that they are tightening them to cover up shit mags that are not balancing too well. My front tire is at HD right now for them to check it on their spin balancer seven squares on a strip on each side in the same area of the mag. Either the tire or mag is way out of whack and i want to see what they come up with on their balancer. They told me they might have to break the tire down and reposition it on the mag. I just want to know my tire and rim are in somewhat balanced shape before they just crank the steering head down to stop this very small wobble, handlebar shake. I have had a lot of different motorcycles and it's not common for the bars to shake unless the rim is bent or out of balance and or a bad tire. My shake is so slight that i cannot feel it but now that i have seen it i am bothered knowing its there. I know that i can tighten the steering head enough to stop it but that wobble is not suppose to be there in the first place. I'm wondering if this is the same model rim that a lot are noticing this with? 2010 glides have the 5 spoke and the fairing on the street glides handle bars might just be enough resistance to not notice this wobble where as the road glide has nothing mounted to it and you just put your finger on the bars poof wobble gone.

My 08 RG had the wobble on deceleration and pulled to the right with hands off the bar.
It was not that bad so I didn't bother worrying about it. The tires were wearing evenly and I never found anything on the bike that would make me concerned.
My new E Glide has no wobble and runs straight as an arrow with no hands.
Why who knows?
