2010 Road Glide handle bar wobble?

2010 Touring service manual calls for steering head bearing lubrication and check at 1000 miles and again at 10k, 20k, etc. My '10 SG at 1000 mi took a 1/4 tube of grease and bearings are marginally to tight.

It's a quick easy check with a lift. Per the service manual, bearing swing count for a 2010 FLTRX is 1 min., 2 max.
 
It wobbles anytime I even remove one hand from the bars! If you dont keep a good firm grip it will wobble uncontroably. If I didn't grab the bars as soon as I let them go I would surely wreck. its not just something I can feel my buddy could the it wobbling when he pulled up beside me and I had one hand on the bars. It does not pull to the left or right it tracks straight.

I really appreciate all the responses and Im gonna try to take it to the dealer next week if its not raining. I dont have a lift to put it on so I cant check anything.
 
TheTyne dealer adjusted mine for free. Just mention the bulletin when you bring it in. Plan on being there for a few hours if you wait while they do it.
 
Mine is smooth and stable at 100 mph. Your triple clamps may be tightened in a misaligned fashion. Take it back to the dealer and make him ride it.
 
Guys with any kind of WOBBLE...get the bike into the dealer asap.

I think most of us have felt how quickly a very minor wobble can manafest in seconds into this uncontrollable shaking to the point where if your not fast enough to back your speeds down, and LUCKY enough to get out of the wobble, you can easily find yourself in a very bad predicament. AKA Crash....

Don't mess with a wobble. Get the bike into the dealer or a known good wrench to identify the cause and fix it.
 
I have a 2010 Road Glide, and yes, this happened to me as well...When I originally posted this to THIS forum, I was laughed out of the place...Nice to see others share my concern about this. Actually, there is a new Service Bulletin about this that I believe supersedes the Service Manual. If I'm not mistaken, when up on a lift and the bars pulled all the way left and released, the new bulletin states that it should swing 1.5 times and then center. This is definitely tighter than before, but it did resolve the issue for me. Alot of folks at the Road Glide Garage found this worked for them too...Ask your local dealer about this bulletin. Also of note, there is a recall on '09 Dunlop tires. If you have an '09 touring model and you feel the front tire and notice "scalloping", HD will replace these free of charge...Good luck to all!

I had the same problem, everyone said it would be the neck bearings so I had them checked, they were fine. I had them put on the progressive front mono tube suspension, and at the same time put on the metzler marathon 880's front/rear...the problem went away. Unfortunately, I can't tell you which fix was the answer, but it's a brand new, and safe to ride, bike. The original dunlops are crap tires, you wont believe the difference metzers make. Have both done and say goodbye to your old problem. Ride hard!
 
I took mine to the dealer and they said that the tech couldn't feel the vibration when he rode the bike....BS!!!! I can still feel it. I'm probably going to take it somewhere else and have them check on it.
 
My '08 and a buddy's '05 also did this thru deceleration at 40-35 or so. MoCo tightened the steering bearings but also said that it is "normal" for the roadies. I was not happy but what are you gonna do. The test the regional guy told me was to just put a single finger on the grip and if the wobble stopped then it was "normal". I guess the rider is part of the dampening system. {shrug}

I guess I just stretch and adjust jacket or what ever during steady 80mph and never deceling through 40.
