Completely agree. She's been on a good award journey with 'The Reader' so far, let's hope this is her year. Could someone explain to me how she was bumped up from Supporting to Leading though?
Can't believe Revolutionary Road is being snubbed for best picture, best director and the lead acting awarRAB! Can't see how Kate having won the Golden Globe wouldn't even have got a nomination! Fingers crossed, she wins it for the Reader.
People disagreed on how central she was to the storyline.
She's the focus of the storyline almost all the way through the film, yet her perspective is never the focus the way that Michael's - David Kross/Ralph Fiennes - is.
I think BAFTA pushing her for Lead gave the Academy an excuse to do the same.
Personally I think she's a Lead. (If Nicole Kidmas was a Lead in The Hours, Winslet definitely is in The Reader.) However, I'd have quite liked her to have been nominated in both categories just cause I think she deserves it for both - and she could have potentially (and deservedly) been the first person ever to win both acting categories on the same night at the Oscars.
I think Slumdog Millionaire should get Best Picture- its amazingly thought provoking and you go out of the movie feeling lucky for what you do have in your life.
It has amazing music- A R Rahman is a legend and should def win Best Music award!
