I'm planning on sending in an audition video for the high school division summer program (probably the musical theater intensive and the musical theatre workshop) and I was wondering what I should do for the dance portion.
the audition requirements have:

"Applicants with dance experience should include a one-minute sample of movement or dance, representative of skill-level (include pirouettes, jumps and any type of acrobatic movements)."

I've been doing ballet since I was three. Would it be a good idea for me to dance en pointe? Should I do a solo or an allegro/class exercise?

Also, any tips regarding filming the video and song choices would be fantastic! I'm not really worried about the songs. I won't sing anything terribly overdone :)

And, does anyone know about the number of people they take? Do they accept more people in the intensive than in the other programs, or is it about the same? Just wondering.
Thanks!

DANCE ON YOUR POINTES!!!!

Not everyone can do that particular skill, and those who can are greatly favored. I would say to do a solo, because you are the one applying for Interlochen, not your dance class. For the video: Don't be afraid to show personality, and don't goof off. Show them a professional dancer, not someone trying to "Drop it like it's hott" :)
