2009 let downs

I actually think that Erabryonic is one of their most interesting releases yet. It's has some very cool textures, but it's so noisy that it's exhausting to get through.

^ 311 - Uplifter. They keep "maturing" more and more with every album they release, and I find myself enjoying them less and less. The CD they put out before this one, Don't Tread On Me, took awhile to grow on me, but I enjoy it from time to time now...but I'm not sure this one can.
The only 311 album I don't actually own yet, and I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to buying it. :|

Listened to the newest IM cd 5 or 6 times through now I'd guess. A few songs like Project 100 are crazy, but most are pretty unremarkable, and none make me get all screw-faced like has happened with their previous releases on occasion. I'm gonna keep trying with this one probably though, so we'll see.

That's all I got atm.

To be honest i wasn't really disappointed with any new releases this year, some were even better than my expectations. Overall it's been a very good year. The only album that came close to disappointing was Mastodon's Crack The Skye. Although it's a great album it just doesn't seem to hold up to repeated listening like their other albums.

I've had many different opinions about this album since its release, but that's because I'm not really sure what I want to hear out of Alexisonfire anymore. As an experiment in other forms of punk rock... it fails, because it just sounRAB like Crisis but with less emotion and more monotonous singing. As an album that aims to provide hooks... it fails, because there's only about four memorable songs on it. And it certainly isn't artistic like their first two albums, so really, all I'm left with is an album that I can sort of appreciate, sort of enjoy, but am left depressed and wishing for the days of old.

The Bedlam In Goliath was insane, heavy, long, chaotic, and extremely arabitious. After hearing a masterpiece such as that and going to this, it's really dissapointing. For any other band, this would be a perfectly acceptable debut album, but The Mars Volta are capable of FAR more, even if they choose to be soft. In the world of Mars Volta, this should be an EP. It's way shorter than their other albums, and I really have a hard time accepting this as a proper full length album from them. More like a fun little experiment they had that they're putting out to give their fans something to listen to while they wait for the next hour-and-a-half-long epic.

Definitely as already said by jackhammer, Porcupine Tree's The Incident was the biggest letdown for me. It's really not up to scratch with their earlier stuff that I love.

And also The Resistance by Muse, after all this discussion before it was released about the album having more 'classical' influence I thought it may lean towarRAB Absolution-type style. So as you can imagine I was pretty disappointed when it came out. That being said, it is growing on me, and I am beginning to like the way Muse can be so diverse in their creations.

I couldn't agree more, this was the biggest disappointment of the decade for me.

Aside from DOOM, Kidcrash's "Snacks"/new material really didn't impress me at all. I hated it. Same goes for Loma Prieta's "Dark Mountain" EP.

One thing I like about Octahedron is that it gives absolutely no clue as to what they are going to release next. Heightens the suspense for the next album abit.

I actually thought this was a damn fine addition to his discography. One of my favorites from Busdriver. (THE favorite would still be Fear of a Black Tangent) but I still think this is a terrific album.

My pick, though would be...

My, my, my...
What happened to Cage?
Listening to his older albums, this is all you can say...
"What happened?"

I was so excited for this CD, and I haven't been able to sit through it more than two or three times.
