2009 Gundam suprise?-Speculation thread

Just get a different meraber of the team to do the design. Of course, Suki-esque or xxxHolic-esque would be a little bizarre in Gundam.
 
It's just my personal opinion that a sequel wouldn't work well. I've been seeing fan ideas for G Gundam sequels for most of the decade and none of them have managed to excite me. Most focus on just a plot of the 14th Gundam Fight, which raises one of my criticisms- alone, the Gundam Fight concept isn't interesting. It was the Devil Gundam plot which pulled everyting togethor and if you just repeat that then I think you cheapen the existing story. The Devil Gundam already had two fake defeats; bringing it back after such an epic bookend of a finale would be something of a cop out. I prefer to have the sugary sweet ending, with our heroes riding off into the sunset. Anything else is best left as computer game hijinks
 
Which is probably for the best, although a creepy idea comes to mind: what if Domon and Rein's kid get infected by DG cells that remain in Rein's system and he goes on a rampage eventually leading up to an almost full-circle ending with Domon Jr. learning to control himself but eventually killing his own father before becoming the new King of Hearts?

I actually started work on a fan fiction which used that plot but abandoned it when I realised it was drifting into DBZ territory. Domon and Rain's son, Kyoji Jr, was becoming far too much of a Gohan in my ideas. The story I had was the few traces of DG cells remaining in Rain infected Kyoji as he developed in the worab. They finally emerge whilst he's visiting a new space station with his father, a station intended to serve as the new place for Gundam Fights to be held. The DG would infect the place and start Colony Devil Gundam hijinks again. Schwarz was also going to be briefly ressurected, which set up the later teenage Kyoji to use a mix of Tohoufuhai style and German ninjutsu.

As for the next King of Hearts- I really doubt it'd be Domon's child. The Shuffle Alliance titles aren't passed down through families but by destined talent. Going back to my wisely aborted story, the new King of Hearts was going to be a girl the same age as Kyoji Jr who would serve as his love interest. Initially she'd have no interest in the title and try frequently to escape from Domon.
 
I wouldn't like to see CLAMP do a Gundam show. If there's one view Tomino has been vocal on with the AUs, it's that he doesn't like those kinRAB of character designs and personally I agree. A bunch of anorexic giant lady boys do not a Gundam series make.
 
Let me break it down to you who don't know

In volume 13 we find out that Watanuki can't remeraber anything about his past, not even his parents' names and faces. And then Syaoran tells Watanuki that they are closer than anyone else. And from there it gets even weirder, because we find out that Watanuki actually IS Syaoran. Syaoran couldn't find a way to save her the first time around, so he wished for a second chance to try to save her. His price was 'time' and 'freedom', and Watanuki was created to fill up that 'time' and 'freedom' Syaoran lost in his home world. Oh, but that's not the end of it. Because Watanuki is not technically supposed to exist, he will bring misfortune to everyone who comes in contact with him. The whole point of Holic is to keep Fei Wong Reed from finding Watanuki and using him for his evil plots.
Oh and Watunuki's dead parents? That's Shaoran and Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura. That's right, they are honest-to-god dead. And Watanuki is the reason for that. Because he was in love with his mom. And went back in time to see her again. And that's why they're dead

CLAMP plays this up as a super happy romantic/emotional thing BTW.

Now do you really want to see THAT^^ in Gundam? No, I didn't think so either.
 
That'd be over before the first commercial break. The beam saber would turn Godzilla into Shiska-Zilla. Gundam vs Mutant Godzilla, now that'd be interesting.

So then, what could the 30th anniversary possibly be?

But seriously, I want a massive universal crossover. No lie. I'm dead serious. Marvel vs. DC comics serious.

OK, in all reality, I would be happy with a UC movie. Been a while since that happened. Or if it has to be, I guess Seed, although it was never one of my faves, but it obviously is immensely popular in Japan.
 
Wait, wasn't Godzilla retconned to survive a Galaxy exploding? So I don't think a beam saber would work too well

Although I do see a UC one. After the endless SEED universe and 00, they usually do go back with an OVA or something retconny I.E. 0083.
 
I agree, it would be sad seeing Domon on Sci Fi instead of Toonami, but I'd love to see a G Gundam sequel


And Gundam vs. Mutant Godzilla would be epic!!
