After 35 years of riding I sold the Hondas today and the misses and I bought our first non-metrics.

I am the proud owner of an 09 black denim Electra Glide Standard, she has an 08 candy red Fat Bob.

I know alot about Hondas and nothing about Harleys.

I will have alot of questions and probably sound klike I know nothing about bikes but this is all new territory to us.

I like my bike the way it is although I would liket to add a sound system, criuse, passenger backrest, and figure out a way to drop the rear end an inch or two.

I have alot of reading to do.

Hi there,
Welcome to the world of H-D. I bought my denim black 09 FLHT last fall after 30+ years of metrics (not a whole lot of our bikes around). I was always kind of a Kawasaki guy myself. The FLHT has been a great riding experience and I'm enjoying every minute of it. My head is still spinning with upgrade questions but I feel I have it figured out Looking forward to seeing how you progress. The first thing I think you'll notice is the pride of ownership. Enjoy the ride !!! Troop

Don't lower the suspension if you can avoid it. You will loose ride quality and cornering clearance. If you need to get your butt closer to the ground, Harley offers different seats that will lower you without ruining the bike's ride and handing.

09 FLHT here. Wish I would have waited for the denim, oh well! Blank canvas for upgrading... lot's a $$$ though! As was said before, not many 09 Standard's around - one year only bike since the new chassis.

Welcome! EG standards are no longer being manufactured. HD thinks they are too close in style to the SG (which costs around 5 grand more). I looked at both, and preferred the EG standard because it was like a blank slate, which I could do with as I pleased. It's a money pit, but I loved giving her my personal touch. Keep her and enjoy her for many years!

Hey I saw you and your wife this AM at Macon Harley. I work there part time as a salesman. Today I was just putting some miles on the new Street Glide. Hope you and your wife enjoy them. This site is a great source of info. If you need anything just let me know.

A most excellent choice ! Congrats and welcome !!!
I rode metrics for almost 40 years before I pulled the plug and bought my E.G. standard about 5 months ago. My last metric was a Kawi 1500 vulcan classic fi. A good bike but no E.G. Ours is such a classic design. I hope to never get rid of her.
