2008 Toyota RAV4 ABS Speed Sensor wont reset?

The ABS Speed sensor went out on my 2008 RAV4, i put a new one in but the idiot lights wont turn off and it wont recognise it. i bought it direct from toyota and they said it should recognise it and reset. any ideas?
