2008 Honda Rebel motorcycle?

The Only Quest

Is this a good beginners bike? Is it hard to drive and is it worth buying as a first bike?

In general, are motorcycles dangerous and what are the chances throughout a lifetime for being involved in a crash?

Good beginner bike. Good city bike for a long time rider. As easy as any, the MSF uses them for teaching people who have never ridden before.

For any given person, you are less likely to be involved in a collision on a bike than in a car. If you do get into a collision, in the car you have a 50-50 chance of zero injuries; on a bike you will be injured, simply a question of how bad.

Statistically you can expect a collision once every 50,000 miles. Those statistics include speeders, drunks, show-offs, etc.. Ride sensible and your risk of a collision drops dramatically. While I have fallen a couple of times on pavement, I have never been in a motorcycle collision.
