2008 Chrysler Sebring headlights?

Like my Name?

I have a 2008 Chrysler Sebring and whenever you switch into reverse or drive, my headlights come on automatically. In my opinion, I think it's stupid. I saw other Sebrings on the road and their lights were off. My car seems to be the only one with its lights on.

Is there a way to turn them off?
Just so you know I'm from New Jersey, not Canada ;) And I bought it new last year.

I don't know my VIN off hand but I'll check it out in the morning.

It might be a car manufactured and sold in Canada.
Canada requires cars to have lights on when the engine is running although I'm not sure about headlights coming on when you select drive or reverse.
Although I am in Texas USA, my 2007 Chrysler Pacifica was manufactured and originally sold in Canada (I used CarFax to find out).
The lights come on and can't be turned off. It used to bother me until I learned that Canadian auto workers typically use more care when building their products. Now I feel lucky to have a Canadian car.

If your car VIN number begins with a "2", it was manufactured in Canada.
