If true (I really don't follow the smartcard & FTA scene so I have no clue), then this begs the following question to be asked:

If BEV is capable of making NFLST secure then why don't they secure ALL of their channels (same goes for DISH)?

If this is indeed true, then that's all the Cable companies would need as the ultimate proof that BEV and DISH are in fact encouraging if not promoting piracy and using it as an unfair competitive advantage... they can proceed to suing the ever loving $hit out of them.

DirecTV can even join in on the fun and take DISH to court for leaving the hole wide open while they actually closed their own in April of 2004.

Selectively protecting some channels and leaving others wide open shows "intent" and proves they know exactly what they are doing.

Nimiq 1 the customer service has nothing to do with that problem... There is a technical issue involved. I could have shut up my mouth about it and let eveybdoy post that they did not get it, but I was proactive and came as soon as I found out to inform Digital Home users of that possible problem

I think that is called good customer service...

If you can't prevent the problem from happening at least have the people informed of the situation

Wow, some of their Sunday Ticket game coverage was a train wreck. I'd be angry too if I was paying that much!

I have a question about keeping a list of glitches found on game days. With all sorts of broadcast problems yesterday, there is compelling evidence that many of the glitches experienced during NFL broadcasts yesterday weren't attributable to BEV:

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=69735

Out of curiosity, are you folks allowing for these types of external glitches in your accounting of BEV's coverage? Clearly the majority of what you saw happening was BEV's fault, but is there any error-checking against results on other BDUs, sources, etc.?

We should run a thread like the one I linked to above every week in order to hopefully set a baseline of broadcast performance on NFL games.

the oak/det 4:00 game had no audio on HD for about a half an hour. Also had the 24.99 problem. Supposed to get a credit in 3-5 years. Customer support has no clue.

I understand that the Americain package is getting more HD game...football is also more popular, according to me in USA. But what if you compare oranges with oranges...

If they have NFL Sunday ticket, does Star Choice offer more HD games? And Videotron? And Shaw? Rogers?

Further to my post yesterday all of the channels opened up for me this afternoon: NFL1 to NFL14 on channels 451 to 464 and NFLH1 to NFLH5 from 465 to 469. Are there only 5 dedicated HD channels?

I got a letter from Bell today with info on this years ST.

They've raised the price to $189 and charge you in 4 installments (used to be $179 in 2 installments).

It mentions up to 6 HD games a week, but now that both CBS and FOX will each do 6 every week I would hope we can get more then 6.

Hopefully they wont double up the ones on the network channels in the ST channels.

It also said that the interactive channel thing with the 6 screens and updates will be available free to all ST subs on just about every receiver.

Not sure about that. Directv does that and they got a lot of negative feedback and gave out a lot of FREE NFL ST HD PACKs last year.

Yes. There is only 8 morning games. If all are games are in HD, the Seattle/Boston CBS/FOX and CTV will cover at least 3 of the games. Then only 5 channels are needed for the remaining morning games.

EVU has 3 MLB EI HD on 1 transponder. Even when only 2 are being used at one time and the third one has no game, the bitrate and PQ is the same as if there were 3 games on at the same time.

Taken rom Bell's site:With up to 15 live regular season games per week-and up to 102 games in HD

I'm not familliar with fotball... How many weeks are there in the season? That makes how many HD games per week?

NFL Sunday interactive... Free with your NFL Sunday Ticket subscription!

I want to know...guys are you really using that application?

Your ticket to this season is only $189
(4 installments of $47.25).

Trip to the Super Bowl contest
When you sign up, you'll automatically be entered for a chance to win an all-inclusive trip for 2 to the Super Bowl
.

No early bird offer apparently that year...lots of clients will probably angry about that!!!

I am considering purchasing NFL Sundday Ticket for the first time this season. When looking at the schedule of games and channel listings I noticed that the 4pm games are being televised on the same channels as the 1pm games. For example in week #1 channel 453 has Tenessee vs. Jacksonville followed by Detroit vs. Oakland. The majority of NFL games run longer than 3 hours meaning that subscribers will likely miss the beginning of Detroit vs. Oakland as well as other 4pm games throughout the season. I am looking into buying Sunday Ticket so I can watch all Raider games which usually are 4pm starts so this is important to me. Does anyone know if Bell has had doubleheaders like this before, and if so was it a problem? Thanks for the help!

Week 2
(Sunday September 16th)

11/14 games are being broadcasted in HD Week 2 and all 11 HD games are available in HD on DirecTV and ONLY 9 Games on BEV!!! (see Red Bold for HD Blue Bold for SD).

1PM Games
CH#
719 NFL Buffalo Bills @ Pittsburgh Steelers HD 1PM (CBS) 465/800/806
720 NFL Indianapolis Colts @ Tennessee Titans HD 1PM (CBS) 466/817/822
721 NFL Atlanta Falcons @ Jacksonville Jaguars HD 1PM (FOX) 467
722 NFL Green Bay Packers @ New York Giants HD 1PM (FOX) 468/818
723 NFL San Francisco 49ers @ St. Louis Rams HD 1PM (FOX) 469
724 NFL New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers HD 1PM (FOX) 470

4PM Games
CH#
725 NFL Dallas Cowboys @ Miami Dolphins HD 4PM (FOX) ?????????
726 NFL Kansas City Chiefs @ Chicago Bears HD 4PM (CBS) ?????????
720 NFL Oakland Raiders @ Denver Broncos HD 4PM (CBS) 466/822
721 NFL Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions HD 4PM (FOX) 467
722 NFL New York Jets @ Baltimore Ravens HD 4PM (CBS) 468/817

Week 2 SD Games
1PM Houston Texans @ Carolina Panthers SD ONLY (CBS) 451
1PM Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns SD ONLY (CBS) 452
4PM Seattle Seahawks @ Arizona Cardinals SD ONLY (FOX) 451/823-SD

Talk about choosing teams with HEAVY followings not to air their HD games !?!? Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs & Chicago Bears.

In the first week, there was 8 HD games at once @ 1PM... which I can understand could prove difficult for BEV to manage... but in Week 2 there are 6 games at 1PM and 5 games at 4PM and BEV only delivers 9 games vs. 10 games in week 1? :o They should be able to deliver ALL games in week 2 by re-using the 1PM NFL ST channels: They are using 3 NFL ST HD channels at 1PM which are not duplicates of "network" channels: 467,469 & 470. If they re-used ALL 3 HD channels at 4pm, it would not increase bandwith utilisation vs. 1pm and they would be able to show ALL HD games this week. As it stands, they are only re-using channel 467 and we are missing 2 HD games.

P.S. Game schedule info comes from zap2it: http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ZCGrid.do

I don't think they had a early bird price last year either did they? Greedy but yet they only ones with the HD coverage

Sorry for the dupe message but I've got channel info for the games in my guide now. But if I try to set one to record I'm getting the $0.00 PPV deal/problem. Is this a bug or are they going to make us do that this year. That would totally suck for my R5000-HD with the 6000 I use to record the games. [Edit: Must be a bug, I can order the Denver/Buffalo game for the great discount price of $24.99 :-)]

Anyway, here's what's on my guide. It's got to be wrong as they are putting 4pm SD games on the same channel as 1 pm games.

Week 1
451 NFL1 PIT vs CLV
452 NFL2 KC vs HST/CHI vs SD
453 NFL3 TEN vs JAX/DET vs OAK
454 NFL4 NE vs NYJ/TB vs SEA
455 NFL5 MIA vs WAS
456 NFL6 PHI vs GB
457 NFL7 ATL vs MIN
458 NFL8 CAR vs SL
459 NFL9 DEN vs BUF
460 NFL10 No info yet.

462 NFL12 No info yet.
463 NFL13 No info yet.
464 NFL14 No info yet.

465 NFLH1 ATL vs MIN

467 NFLH3 CAR vs SL

Got the letter last week. I'm not renewing this year, 6 HD games is a joke. Plus, it's sickening to see all those fortec white antennas pointing at BEV satellites in my neighborhood that are probably getting that package for free.

I'll rely on the basic HD channels and OTA to complement them.

1PM games:
All on the correct channels, all with video, all with audio = A+

4PM games: No issues with game transition for the HD channels (contrary to some reports... maybe he was watching the SD chanels...).

Most 1PM games finished early which meant we got to see the beggining of all the 4PM games. The only issue was the Dallas @ Miami game had no audio for the 1st minute and a half of the 1st Quarter of play (no big deal). = A

All games in HD on BEV for Week 2
NO simsubs
Almost no issues (Dallas @ Miami for a few minutes no audio)

Week 2 rating: 9.5/10

BEV keep up the good work

P.S. It's ironic that the best afternoon week 2 game was in SD this week: Cincinnati (45) @ Cleveland (51)... that game was sick! :D Now here's hoping that San Diego destroys Bill Bellacheat and the New England cheaters tonight (Patriots).

I wish someone could tell me what the hell is going with NFL Sunday Ticket on Bell ExpressVU. I have the package they offer, but when I go to record a game with my pvr it comes up as a pay per view event for $24.99 per gameday. I have called BEV 3 times and they are a wealth of useless information. They have no idea what I'm talkin about. So here it is gameday and I went ahead and set up my pvr to record the game of choice and I had to purchase the game before I can record it. The problem is the timer you set up cannot be edited to extend the game time because it is a ppv event.
pls help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
