We purchased a 2007 Ford Focus a few weeks ago. It currently has about 31,000 miles on it. This past week, I've noticed that in the mornings and when I leave to go home from work (basically, after the car's been shut off for awhile) that it does something odd (almost like it's have trouble shifting or losing power) when it gets to 20 mph. After that it's fine and it won't do it again. Any suggestions as to what this might be? I called the Ford garage here, but they can't look at it until Tuesday morning.
No lights come on - "Check Engine" or otherwise.

strange, now, it only hessitates up to 20 then no longer does it? it could be that the tranny doesnt completly lube untill 20mph, it could be that the tranny is undergoing a self check, because with my volvo, the breaks feel funny untill i pass 20mph, after that it pulsates the abs and regulates it so then it feels normal again.
it could be the O2 not completly warm.

next time, start the car, let it idle for 1-3minuts then drive off, if its different its justs a temp thing, but if it remains it could be time for more/new ATF (but i belive the new fords no longer have a serviceible ATF port and are supposed to have usefull fluid for the life of the tranny) or its a computer modulating.

your ford mechanic should know for sure.

have the transmission fluid and filter changed, i think 30k miles is the recommended mileage for that anyway. otherwise try letting it warm up in the driveway for a few minutes before you drive it in the morning.
