The S50 is a great bike, with no real issues other that one very minor thing you can fix yourself for 50 cents. But that price is a bit high, especially with the 2009s in the showrooms and cold weather ending the riding season in most of the country. Kelly Blue book shows the 2006 S50 at $4520 from a dealer. NADA lists it at $5055 for average retail from a dealer. KBB is 'appraised value', while NADA reflects the average of what member dealers have reported selling that model for, so in theory the NADA number is supposed to be more accurate. I might pay the dealer's $5489 if the bike were perfect, in the color I wanted, and he gave me some goodies, like a free helmet and jacket, or maybe $400 towards accessories or future service. Otherwise I'd look for a better deal, as there are a lot of S50s out there.
