2006 GSXR Check Engine Light

Hey guys, I just recently bought a used 2006 GSXR 600 and the check engine light came on. It comes on when you turn the bikes power on, but when you start it, it goes off. I brought the bike to the shop, and the just reset the light and said there was nothing wrong. Now i'm totally new to this bike, and i was curious if this was normal?

Any information would be great.

a lot of cars and bikes run a system check at start-up and flash all kinds of lights. if it goes off once you start the motor, then i'd not worry anymore and just ride. :)
 
my wifes mazda had a check engine light come on and the dealer swears that it was just because we filled the gas tank while the car was running. Could be something inconsequential like this, but if you are concerned you can always pull the codes and google the # to get a better idea.
