I'm not sure how to describe it really but it just sounds like a slight ticking noise. I hear it when I'm sitting at a light and when I'm actually riding. I've had engine's with a knock, or bad rod bearing before and this isn't the same noise. At least not that I can tell. It's not very loud at all but I can hear it if I turn my head while I'm riding and try to listen. The bike only has 9,400 miles on it and I've recently changed the oil with recommended Yama-lube from the dealer.
There's not been any lose of power, and it rides great. Nothing wrong other then the noise. It's not getting to hot or low on any fluid, and I've never even had it above 10,000 rpm. I'm the second owner and was told it wasn't a race bike or beaten.
The noise just showed up in the last 150 miles, and I don't want to blow my bike up. What should I do? I don't want to pay an arm and a leg to take it to the dealer if it's not anything major but then again I don't want to replace the engine by neglecting a major problem.
When I was sitting at a light about 30 min ago I noticed a smell like some one was burning a clutch, could it be a clutch problem? I had problems with my clutch cable not being adjusted correctly, maybe its still not right? This is my first bike and any help will be greatly appreciated.
