My 05 Mazda 3s had the check engine light come on after driving at high rpm's through mountains from cold to warm weather. The code that autozone pulled said "insufficient coolant temperature for stable operation". The guy at autozone and the dealer said it's the thermostat, and that it's about $250.00-$350.00 to fix. My engine temperature Gage shows that it is not overheating, or under heating, the car drives perfect, and the air conditioner and heater both work perfectly as well. I don't want to spend that much money, but I also don't want to ruin my engine. What else could it be? If anyone can help me with this, that would be great!
