My computer has been restarting on its own lately about once everyday, then, it would just function about the same. Also, the cpu fan gets loud. So, to know what really is the cause, i searched the internet about it. I read that it could just be needing dusting inside the computer, since it has not been cleaned ever. At first, I used household vacuum, but, I could not get into narrow areas. So, I bought compressed air duster and cleaned the inside of the computer. Boy, it was still dirty. (Note: You really have to clean it outside when using the compressed air or else the dust will get all over you). I got most of the dust but I decided to remove the fans to really clean it well, but, I overlook the screws of the cpu fan. So, instead of just removing the fan (on the heatsink), i unscrewed the heatsink with the fan on.
Then my problems came. First, I thought the thermal paste on the round metal behind the heatsink was dust, so, I wiped it off clean. I also removed the cpu and cleaned off the thermal paste. At first, I did not know that that was thermal paste. So, after I cleaned the heatsink and the cpu, I put it back without reapplying with thermal paste (since I did not have and know yet). I turned on the computer and it worked fine. Again, I searched the internet about the part that I accidentally removed because I wanted to know. Then I learned that I have to reapply with thermal paste to conduct heat from the cpu to the heatsink. So, I went to Frys and bought Arctic Silver 5 (they said it's good), applied it on the cpu and reassembled back the heatsink. Still, the cpu fan runs loud. So, because of my curiousity, i kinda messed around with the parts (that I have no idea what) inside the computer. I removed the card where you connect the cable from the monitor because its black plastic heatsink was hot to the touch. I thought that was the problem. I also cleaned the paste off and reapplied with Arctic Silver 5 and put it back where I got it. Then, sometimes, the computer would start, most of the time it won't. It has power because the fans will run but it doesn't start. When I'm lucky it will start. So, again, when I can use it online, I went to HP support and troubleshooting. That's where I followed an instruction about how to check the temperature of my computer through the BIOS. I think I have followed another instruction about how to restore the BIOS. I restarded my computer after that and when I can get my computer to start it says "STARTING WINDOWS RECOVERY CONSOLE PRESS F6 IF YOU NEED TO INSTALL A THIRD PARTY". After that, the following appear "MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP <TM> RECOVERY CONSOLE", "THE RECOVERY CONSOLE PROVIDES SYSTEM REPAIR AND RECOVERY FUNCTIONALITY", TYPE EXIT TO QUIT THE RECOVERY CONSOLE AND RESTART THE COMPUTER", 1: D\ MiniNT 2:C:\WINDOWS "WHICH WINDOWS INSTALLATION WOULD YOU LIKE TO LOG ONTO", TO CANCEL, PRESS ENTER>?". -------but if I choose either 1 or 2 then press enter, this appears "TYPE THE ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD"------------ and I have no idea what the password is.
WHAT IS THE ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD AND WHERE DO I FIND IT?
PLEASE HELP ME. I CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY A NEW COMPUTER RIGHT NOW. I NEED TO SAVE THE PICTURES IF I CAN.
THANK YOU...
