2005 Dodge Neon SE Check Engine Light on?

My 2005 Dodge neon is at 84000 miles within the last few months the check engine light comes on periodically and the engine will jerk and not want to accelerate at lower speeds. At first it would stop after I got to 30mph or turned the engine off and back on. I had it looked at but by the time I got in there about a day after the check engine light had turned off. It started doing it again but will also do it at about 60mph and lower speeds as mention earlier. Now when I turn it off it doesn't want to at first and takes a few seconds to start up.

I've heard engine miss fire and fuel filter but I'm not sure. I need some ideas so it can get fixed. The use of computers is horrible because the shop doesn't see anything wrong according to that so there isn't a problem. Its frustrating.

I have the same model and year.Mine was doing the same thing.Even started suffering on fuel mileage.I ended up changing the cam and crank sensor.I went through cadalitic converter, timing belt, fuel filter, fuel pump.
It ended up being the cam and crank sensor. The computer could nt see it because it was still throwing enough voltage to tell computer it was working but not enough to work properly.
After I changed them my fuel mileage went from 28 to 32 mph.Runs like a top.
