2005 Dodge Neon problems?

I took my car to my local transmission shop this morning and got it diagnosed after my car went into limp mode Friday night. After the guy test drove it and ran some diagnostics, he couldn't find a damn thing wrong with it, no codes, nothing was found. He said it might not even be the tranny, as it seemed like it was operating normally. I'm now trying to get some other ideas, could it be the spark plugs, speed sensors, etc? My car only has a little more than 54,000 miles on it. The first time that this happened was earlier in the week when my brother drove it, but I had the same experience all over again on Friday night. The car was running fine until the check engine light came on after driving on the PA Turnpike for about 10 miles. Tranny then went into limp home mode.
I did take it to AutoZone to scan it while the check engine light was on, and guess what, when I plugged the thing in, the light magically disappeared.
