2005 Chevy Malibu Maxx?

I just bought a Chevy Malibu Maxx. I've been looking through the manual, but I can't seem to find what the button the gear shifter is for - on the right side (where your thumb naturally goes), there is a +/- button. I'm curious what this is because I often accidentally hit it when shifting from park to drive and such. Anybody know?

There should be a gear below D for drive, it should be an M or it might say L, when you put it in the gear below Drive you can use the plus and minus button for sport shifting, it's an automatic but you can go through each gear how you want, like a manual transmisson.

the +/- button is the Tap-Up/Tap-Down sport shifting option on the sports transmission. it allows to manually shift the transmission up or down, to use this feature place the transmission into D.

hope this helps
