2004 Yamaha YZ 250F????

I just bought this bike. it's a pain to start and it doesn't idol it just dies on me. when i finally get it started i give it throttle and it bogs down and dies again. I have tried adjusting the screw on the side of the carburetor. i also put a new spark plug in it but doesn't seem to make a difference so i emptied the old gas and put new in. what step should i take to getting it up and running
