2004 Mazda RX-8 worth it?

Is the 2004 Mazda RX-8 worth purchasing?
I am considering buying a red mica 2004 RX-8. The listed price is $14,250 and it has about 41,000 miles on it.

I've heard varying things about the car, especially the 2004 model. I know it doesn't get great gas mileage, but I'm worried more about reliability and overall satisfaction.

I currently have a 1995 Nissan Altima. It has given me minimal problems over the years and still runs great. AC has never failed, just minor hiccups like alternator replacement and such. Few hundred dollars here and there every so often, but otherwise has been a fantastic car over the years. But it can't keep up forever...although it seems like it could possibly lol.

So, overall, what is your assessment of the 2004 RX-8? I'm torn and don't know what to do. Also, does this car seem like a good deal? Can you help?

No, I live in NY and I saw a 2006 Clean title RX-8 (black) with about 40k mileage on it selling for $9,000. It's been 3 months now, I've still been in touch with this guy (because he wants to sell his car and buy mine), and he tells me he still hasn't sold his car yet.

So I'm assuming that the 2006 version of this car does not sell at $9,000 and is fairy new, then the price has to definitely be lower than that.

I honestly don't even like the RX-8, it's not all that appealing, and it's slow. 150 Horsepower is nothing, as compared to cars like the 350z with about 315 Horse power, or Evo's with 270 Horsepower & Turbo.

Let's start with that automatic transmission part.

Automatics and rotaries don't mix....at least not traditional torque converter type automatics.

They really suck the joy out of owning a rotary powered car.

You end up with a car that really doesn't run 0-60 any faster than the larger Mazda 6S...probably slower

Just get a 350Z if you want an automatic. That's still "not right" but at least it isn't completely wrong
