2004 Mazda 6 Automatic Transmission problems?

The car is the 3.0 V6 with the 5 speed auto.

I'll start with the fact that I haven't been the most docile driver with the car, the car's been mine for about 4 months now, and I've taken the car to redline nearly every day, and I've brake torqued about 10 times. Before that, the car belonged to my grandfather who barely drove it (it's six years old but only has 26,000 miles on it). Did I cause these problems?

It's happened to me three times over the past two days. I'm driving along normally in Drive from a stop, and it feels like it'll randomly kick itself out of gear then kick itself back into gear again (not sure if this is actually what's happening, but it's what it feels like). Yesterday, I turned from an intersection (exit from the Garden State Parkway onto a normal road), and while accelerating slowly up to speed, the car jerked, the revs shot up to about 4,500, and the front wheels chirped at the car engaged the next gear (I'll assume it went from 2nd to 3rd).

What does this mean? Is this common? Will I need a new gearbox?
