2004 ford mustang-why is there small puffs of smoke coming from my hazard light

button on the steering wheel? while driving small puffs of smoke come from the hazard light on my steering wheel. The car doesnt have any other problems
 
It is most likely an short, do you smell something like burning plastic? you will want to get this checked out before you have a larger problem. .
 
Do you have a lot of keys or crap on your key chain?

I ask because usually it is the ignition switch arcing because it is worn out. Every time, the driver had a bunch of crap on their key chain and the extra weight causes the ignition switch to fail prematurely.

You should get it fixed quickly. There is the chance of fire, but it is more likely to leave you stranded...
 
you have an electrical short - get that car to a shop before something catches on fire.

at best, you'll fry some wires, and the hazards won't work.

at worst, you'll burn the whole car down...
