2004 Ford F-150 Lariat Making A Ticking Noise?

Could be a loose rocker arm. Could also be a leaking exhaust manifold gasket. If you really like the truck take it to a independent tech and let them have a look.
 
2004 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.4L 4x4 Crew cab

I went and test drove this truck last night. I noticed when I started it up there was a ticking noise coming from under the hood while it was running. After driving it for about 5-10 minutes we ended up back at the car lot and I brought the noise to the sales guys attention. He told me it was a normal sound for all 5.4L fords. I thought normal sound is smooth and no clicking or knocking noises. This truck is a lot of money and I don't want to buy it if it is going to break down in 3 months.

Does anyone have an idea of what the sound might be?
