i have a 2004 ford explorer that has automatic 4 wheel drive that seems to be pretty sensitive like it will kick in when it rains or as soon as it senses slippage i know that it is suppose to work when it senses slippage but when you go thru a puddle that seems a little ridiculous and then once it goes into automatic mode i have to engage it into 4x4 via the push button and then back again to automatic to go back to normal drivin is there a fuse or relay i can remove so when i need 4x4 i can just push the button so it will not engage so easily in automatic plz help

You shouldn't have to do anything to it. There is no normal. It is always automatic unless you put it in 4w high or 4w low. I have the same dislike for it. When I try to slide around in the snow the 4w kicks in and screws up my donuts. I share the same dislike for the ABS system. If you are braking and one of you wheels bounces off of the ground you have no brakes until the airbourne tire touches the ground again. Stupid. Anyway you should return to normal driving automatically. It is always in auto no way around it.
