My 2003 RX8 53000 miles has just had pipes replaced under goodwill warranty at Mazda due to an engine oil leak. I thought that was good of Mazda. But they phoned me today to say the car will not do over 10mph as I was meant to collect it today. They say they will look at it but it will not be covered under warranty or a goodwill warranty. Has anyone any ideas what could be causing such severe power loss? clogging catalytic converter perhaps?
thanks Robert. I only use mazda oil in the car when topping up, I buy it dirrect from the dealer.

What pipes???? Clogged cat conv could do this, but if car ran OK before it went to dealer, then I would have to assume that the dealer is responsible. Make absolutely CERTAIN, that the oil you have been using conforms to the EXACT spec's listed in your manual. For the most part, using quicky lube oil is NOT good enough, and may cause severe engine damage. READ YOU MANUAL 4-5 TIMES. Understand the section that lists the qualities of acceptable oils and fluids. Use ONLY Mazda coolant in this thing. It is a VERY special formula. The wrong oil can damage the rotor seals, or prevent them from sealing, causing power loss. Use ONLY "top tier" fuels. (read about this in internet). If you are REALLY lucky, it might just be a clogged fuel filter. Good Luck!!!

Did you do the tips of the rotor they get worn down and may need to be done as well as the work done you will get power loss trough loss of compression in pistons if their badly worn. check your warranty read carefully as they might be trying to get away with costly repair try get another mec to take a look
