2003 mazda protege trouble starting in the morning and choking while accelerating..?

My 2003 mazda protege (manual) sometimes wont start in the morning. It started out just not starting, so we assumed it was the battery. Turns out it wasn't. The car turns over and and sometimes will start up after a try or two but lately it wont even turn on. Once we get the car started for the first time of the day, it will start up by itself for the rest of the day. Until the next morning when it doesn't want to again. Push starting the car, usually works (not sure why, as its not a battery issue.)
Today it started hesitating while accelerating, mainly in first gear. Almost like the car was choking for gas.

The car was sitting not being used much for the past two years.
We are thinking it might be one of the following problems:
1.) Bad, old gas in the system.
2.) Fuel filter
3.) Fuel pump

Any thoughts? It seems to be getting worse every day.
