2002 yamaha grizzly vin number?

I cant find the vin number. Is it a metal tag that can be removed or is it engraved? And does the vin number tell you the what year the motor is or is their a different number for that? thanks
Well thats what im afraid of i just got it so I dont know if the motor has been swapped. I just want to know exactly what I have. I need to rebuild it. Thanks for answering.
 
Yes it can be removed, although doing so is illegal, if it's a metal tag. you would have to find the 17 digit number on your frame somewhere to find out.
 
HELLO; The vin is on the left side just to the rear of the front fender on the lower tube of the frame, now for the motor theres a number on a serrated patch on the case take both and cross referance them and youll find what your looking for . GOOD LUCK....GREASY.
