2002 Jeep Liberty Limited? First car?

My parents just bought me a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited- it's my first car. It seems great and all but I've been reading up about these cars/suvs over the past few days and it seems that they don't have good reviews at all. I'm the one who is going to have to get a job to pay for the gas and apparently these cars suck for mileage. Am I stuck with a total dud of a car? Also are they safe? Not theres much I can do to get out of this, but I want my mind to be put somewhat at ease. Thanx for anything you have to say.
 
ask your parents if ur aloud to sell that car and use its money + ur own money to get a better car like a honda or something like that? u can look on the internet for ways to get money. hope i can help u again
 
You just got it and you crackin on it already?? Why don't you try driving it and see if YOU like it and stop reading this other crap about it. Otherwise just give it back to your parents since you've already made up your mind about it.
 
The jeep liberty isn't the best on gas mileage ,but iv'e seen cars with worst gas mileage and the jeep liberty isn't all that bad on gas . For as safty goes the only thing i don't like about the jeep is the way it handle's around curves. To me it seems like it doesn't hold itself down to the road all that good when going around curves.
