if head gasket is blown every time you check your water level it will be lower, plus you will have water spots in your oil for when you check it, if your water pump is not working right it will leak water from a tale tale hole on front of water pump. it kinda sounds like thermostat is not working. i have seen alot of people take them out and set pocket lighter till them and after afew moments the spring will open up the thermostat, i personally would go get another thermostat since they are only afew bucks and switch them out and get some water wetter from auto zone, it helps the vehicle run alittle cooler. and one last thing, check your reservoir and make sure it is at the fill line
