so my check engine light turned on with the car showing no signs of problems and running great. Took her into autozone they hooked it up and said it was a FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT MALFUNCTION, WHICH COULD BE CAUSED BY POOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTION AT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. PROBABLE CAUSE: FAILED FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT. Now i notice when i fill up on gas it doesn't always shoot right up to where it should but by the time i leave the gas station its fine. Autozone said the only part they have that could get the check engine light off is a $200 fuel pump, any other ideas?? thank you for your time

you should take your car to an actual repair shop that has the proper diagnostic equipment. it's very possible that you do need a new fuel pump but i seriously would not trust autozone to make that determination. yes it will cost you more money to take it to a proper repair shop but that is to be expected. go to a place that is aaa certified or check with your insurance company. they will usually have a list of reputable repair shops in your area.

call around to all of your different parts places.
I've recently been finding autozone is not the cheapest place to buy stuff.
(I do like their warranty on tools)

The job is not hard, so you may want to consider going out to a junkyard and dropping a fuel tank or two to see how it is done and to see where all the connections are.
You can prolly get a good float at said salvage yard
