I just recently bought a new to me 2002 buick rendezvous CXL. After having it for about 2 weeks the transsmission would start clunking when the vehicle would be hot from driving for awhile. it would clunk in between 2-3. I checked the fluid level and found it to be overfilled and it was agitating leaving air bubbles in the tranny fluid. I threw a fit at the dealer and they did a fluid flush for free. It drove smooth for about 2 days and then started clunking in between 1-2 also. Is there a cheaper fix or is this transmission toast? also when it clunks, it feels like it is coming from the rear although the tranny is in the front. Could this be bad u-joint on the drive shaft or something with the AWD system? Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.

If it's AWD, then there is a gearbox in the rear of the vehicle. It should be in the middle of the two real wheels, this drives the rear wheels. It needs fluid to avoid overheating and failure, so have the dealer check that if you can't do it yourself.

It could be the U-Joints also. Take it to a mechanic, not the dealer. Unless you have a warranty... You will pay much more and get more run around at a dealer.
