2001 Toyota Celica 6 speed..........?

When im driving down the highway and i have my car in 6th gear it kicks out of it and revs the engine and kind of grinds the gears. im not much of a mechanic and any help would be appreciated a lot. thank you
 
I have the same car its the GTS model and I am thinking that when you try to shift it into 6th you are putting it into 4th?? Me and everyone else that has drove my car have all done that before. When you are putting it into 6th from 5th grab the shifter and push it to the right and pull down into 6th gear. If you don't push it a bit to the right it will put you into 4th gear and rev up the car and I am sure its grinding gears because its not sure what gear you want it to go into. Celicas are very very touchy! If this is not the problem its time to call the mechanic. Do not try to work on the car your self believe me its HARD! These are really great cars and have a ton of performance for a 4-banger. If you have any other questions about them feel free to email me via my profile. Good luck!
