little while. has new battery? i was riding today and my bike lost power. i jumped it and it ran for a mile or so. I had the battery tested and they said it was bad, i got a brand new battery and it is still doing the same thing. when i try to start it it just clicks very fast and alot. the engine wont turn over. but if i hook the jumper cables to it it will start but dies shortly after. usually once i get driving it about a mile or two. Also seems like clutch is having issues, would clutch have anything to do with this problem??

I agree that the two issues are probably not related. I also agree that the charging system needs to be thoroughly tested, because if the stator is bad, chances are the reg/rectifier is also damaged.

The clutch could be out of adjustment or worn out depending on how you ride and how much you are on the clutch.

As for oil, DO NOT PUT ATF in your bike. Use a good quality motor oil-I personally like Castrol and I change the formula depending on season. Late fall, winter and early spring its 10W40 and then for late spring, summer and early fall it is 20W50. If your bike has problems using conventional motoroil, then you will probably have to switch over to a motorcycle oil which does not have the antifriction properties that automotive oil has.
