2001 Ninja 250, about 20k miles on it. About a month ago it died on me, and I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I replaced the starter and battery, and it still wouldn't start. I let it sit for a while (days) and then it started right up and ran great until last week when it died on me again, like it was out of gas but there was still gas in the tank and I even had it on reserve but no luck. I was a good like 4 miles away from my house when it died. Now, it will start up with the choke on, but when I turn it off it will die. I tried adjusting the idle speed but if it's at like 1k I can turn it for like 1-2 turns with no effect and then all of a sudden it will shoot up to like 3-4k, and then I turn it don for about 1-2 turns and it will do nothing and then all of a sudden it will shoot down to around 1k. I can't get it anywhere between 1k and 3k. I thought, air leak in the carb manifold. But I double checked and there doesn't seem to be a leak in the manifold, so may quesiton is... what else might it be? Like, is there somewhere else there might be a leak? I tried spraying starter fluid around the manifold and the RPMs rose right up so I'm thinking it's a leak somewhere.
Anyone know what might be the problem?
thanks
