as some backround info, i just got a cr125r 2001. took it out for my first time in 7 years, and the bike ran smooth, crisp power-band and very responsive for the first half of the ride, then it seemed to feel like there was something wrong with the top-end. i continued to ride hard and got home fine.
I then ripped the bike apart completly (btw. i mixed some HP2 honda racing pre-mix to 4.5 gallons of 93) the air box was very dirty and disgusting from the previous owner and i must have sucked some dirt/grease into my cylinder because there were some pits on the top of the piston and on the cylinder head. i replaced some bearings in the rear linkage and had the swingarm welded from the chain slider not being replaced.
after rebuilding the bike( i filed and emery clothed the pits and obstructions on the piston and cylinder head-not replaced) i found out that it is better to run rich than lean with the mix so i added a little bit of the HP2 pre-mix to my tank(on the bike) maybe about4 cap-fulls, i then went out for a ride...
the bike ran strong and smooth as before and had a nice crisp power-band although i noticed i had lost a little compression( the kick start was a little easier than before)but after about for laps on a 1/4 mile track i pulled over to let a friend go by and lead the bike stalled. and wouldnt restart, i figured i fouled the plug because there was too much oil in the gas ( plug was never replaced)...i then noticed that the connecting plug from the coil to the spark plug was kind of loose and seemed broken when i squeezed it with my hands... so i guess i can drain my fuel and get a new spark plug but im not sure if the electrical connection needs to be replaced, if anyone has had any experience with a problem like this or knows what i should do or where to start, please let me know, i want to go riding again.
