2001 Honda Civic. Why driving on the freeway the other day my wife's car went from 70 mph to 20 mph and would not go any faster than that. She pulled over and restarted the car and the car would still not accelerate over 10-20 mph. Several days later I drove the car around the block and it seems to be operating normally (fuel additive was added to the fuel tank). Check engine light is still on any ideas of what it could be along with reasonable pricing for the fix. Thanks in advance.

If the Check engine light is on get is scanned and then see what the code means. Alot of times people just guess and problems can look the same to the untrained eye, the codes will give you a direction to look in. Don't wait get it scanned.

If you have access to a code reader see what the engine code is reading. Perhaps the mass air flow sensor is going bad and causing the engine to restrict air flow. Just a possibility...
