2001 ford windstar serpentine belt replacement?

On the 3.8L V6 motor in the Windstar how do I relieve the tension on the belt in order to remove it? It looks like the lower rear pulley is the tensioner. Should I put a box wrench and pipe extender on the bolt and turn? I don't want to force anything and break something. Thanks.
