Yea, my stratus r/t coupe is really quick when the a/c is off (acceleration 0-60 is round 7 seconds) but when the A/C is on at all it totally slows down the car, I feel like I'm running 12 second 0-60's, its very noticeable. What is the problem, would really like to get this fixed. (also, i know the a/c is supposed to rob a little power, but just the tiniest bit, its not supposed to be noticeable, ive been in other cars with the a/c on and i feel no difference in acceleration. good answers will be very much appreciated, thanks...

In 2 out of our 4 cars the A/C is really, really noticeable when it is on. They are great with it off but do not perform nearly as good with it off. Has it always been like this? Are you the original owner? If you haven't had it very long I would check to make sure that the fans are moving A LOT of air. If the fans are working poorly than the pressure on the ac compressor is going to be much greater and is going to add that much more load to you engine. If you fans are working good, your ac performs well and your "Check Engine" lamp is not on, then that is probably just the way it is. Unfortunately, I have learned to turn the ac off when I am getting on a steep highway onramp or if I need to pass someone on a 2 lane road. Hope that helps, God Bless!!!
