2001 Dodge dakota upper ball joints?

I hear a creaking noise in the front of my truck and I'm not sure what I'm hearing. I have 115k on my truck so my first thought is leading the the wimpy upper ball joints. I threw my dial indicator on it and I have a little under .005 of and inch of play is this too much or should I be focusing my attention to the shocks? I'll already replace the lowers with after market Moog joints so I can rule those out. Any ideas?
 
play doesnt matter when were talking about a squeek.try spraying them with sillicone,same with your sway bar bushings,you could also tray taking the sway bar out to eliminate that as a cause. but having .005 thousandths of an inch play is NOTHING most ford specs are .035 and some are more...so dont worry about that.
