2001 Chevy Malibu 3.1 Transmission problems?

I wanted to know what other years and models of cars have the same transmission in them. I have a few different friends that have wrecked cars or engine trouble that said I could have the tranny but I want to know if the switch out, Thanks for your time, You guys are awsome, Jim
