2000 Toyota Celica GT-S Randomly Revs while in Gear?

Hi, my car has a manual transmission. It has about 65000 miles on it, been really reliable. Anyways, while in gear sometimes the car will sometimes randomly rev as if someone is pushing in the clutch. What's going on? Is the clutch nearing the end of it's life? (I've probably raced it like 6 times back when I bought it in 2000, don't know if that shortened the life of the clutch). I don't know anything about cars, so any info would help. Thanks
