2000 toyota camry p0420 engine code help?

P0420 is a code for "catalyst efficiency below threshold". which means you have to replaced the catalytic converter with a TOYOTA catalytic converter. unfortunately is very expensive. even more unfortunately is that if you buy an aftermarket CAT, it most likey will not meet toyota's threshold efficiency for a CAT and the check engine light will come on again.
you did not HAVE TO replace your O2 sensors. we recommend it because of the age of the car, and possibly mileage.
after you replace the CAT, clear the check engine light and that should do it.
 
my check engine light came on and i took it to autozone and got a p0420 code. this indicates most likely a catalytic converter or something to do with the oxygen sensors. i had both oxygen sensors replaced and the light is still on. what do you think i should do before i shell out a lot of money to fix those problems. thanks. i was reading other peoples stories of how the light keeps coming back on even after these are replaced so i do not know if i trust the code for accuracy.
