Hello,
I Have a 2000 Toyota Camry LE and I recently heard a noise from under the hood. It turned out to be a piston knocking and I drove a little too long and the piston shot right through the engine and broke off. There is a big whole in the engine now and needs to be replaced. I am having a hard time here... I don't know what I should do. The car has 280k KM on it and most people are telling me to scrap the car and finance a different one because the money i'd have to pay to put a used engine into it ($1500 to $2500) they just say it's not worth the money to me.
I personally like the car and have done some recent work to it... I would like to keep it but I need to know some other opinions. Yahoo answers always has given great answers for me in the past so I came here.
Is there any problems that I will face when putting a used engine into this car? Will the timing fuck up and throw everything else off ... ex - transmission etc. Will it be worth my time to do this or to just move on to a different car and try my luck that way?
Anything you guys/girls would like to add... please feel free... this has beaten me up bad... it's depressing when this happens as it's hard to afford things over and over again and i'll have to work extra to make this happen if I do have to replace the engine or else I will just finance another car... but all my upgrades and repairs will go to waste.. I put a lot of new parts on it. Anything would be a help...
Thanks in advance,
Mitch
