2000 Toyota 4Runner question.?

I am wondering about the "Diff Lock" light on my dash board. I want to know how to engage it. I have tried 4 wheel drive in low, but it didn't work. When does this light come on? What do I have to do to engage it?
 
My son had one and the wire from the sending unit kept falling off when he went four wheeling
 
Check the grounds to make sure they are clean. Also make sure your wire/leads haddent fallen off the sending unit.
