2000 pontiac trans am ws6, hurst leather shifter knob removal?

i have the leather hurst shifter knob that has the big H on the top of it. i need to remove it to change out my shifter boot. does this hurst shifter knob twist off counter clock wise or is it a pull off knob? thanks
