2000 Jeep TJ, 4.0 engine light.?

Fault code is P0442, System passes smoke test, filler cap has been tested and replaced along with inspection of the filler neck and connection to fuel tank. LDP also just replaced and fault light still comes on every two days. There is no visible damage to any of hoses and occasionally a smell of gas initially. Everything drives ok and there are no obvious signs for the failure. Only other work on this Jeep was a fuel pump change over a year ago.
 
the fuel pump is in the tank attached to the sending unit. i would check the fuel return line on the top of the sending unit. there might be a small leak from when the pump was changed. there are probably vents and evap lines there as well. i would check them for leaks as well.
