2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited door lock problem?

Hi, I have a 2000 Jeep GC Limited. The rear drivers side door lock grinds when I lock it. I can still manually lock it and unlock it but not with the remote or the power button. I was wondering if there was a way that I could unhook the lock from the power so I wouldnt have to listen to the annoying duck sounding noise. I cant afford to replace the part right now so Im trying to find an alternative way to get rid of the noise. Also does anyone know if there was a way to unhook the lock from the power, would the alarm still work for that door? Thank you
 
Take the inside door panel off and unplug it. The plug is on the latch. You will lose the alarm sensor when it is unplugged.
